LEAWOOD UMC COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
We are a community, and share in the burden of caring for one another and keeping our community safe.
The CDC updated their guidance for masking. Previously, the guidance for masking was based on the number of cases and spread. Now, the CDC uses a new formula that looks at new COVID-19 hospital admissions in the past 7 days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID patients, and total new cases. Counties are categorized as either low, medium, or high. For low and medium counties, wearing of masks would now be optional. In counties categorized as high, all individuals should wear masks. Johnson County is currently classified as low based on the CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/community-levels.html.
This means that, according to CDC guidelines, masks would now be optional for our community. We ask people to come as they feel most comfortable, masked or unmasked. However, if you are working with children under the age of 5, we will require that masks be worn since those below 5 are unable to be vaccinated. If you are experiencing illness or symptoms, please know that we would love for you to join us online for worship!
Below are the safety protocols developed for our gatherings.
Please practice social distancing as best as possible.
Those with cold/flu symptoms (coughing, runny nose, elevated temperature, headache, body aches) should worship from home.
Those with recent known Covid exposure (within the last ten days) should worship from home.
If you are unvaccinated or in a vulnerable group, we recommend that you consider joining us online for worship.
**Nursery care is available from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the comfort room at the back of the sanctuary. If you need directions, please ask an usher or greeter.
